Program lecturers

The teams who have given lectures on the MBA program so far hail from many European Union countries namely: Austria, the Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands and Poland. In addition, some of the lecturers have come from further afield namely: Canada, India, Russia and the USA. Having such an eclectic mix of lecturers from different cultural backgrounds enhances the richness of the material studied on the MBA program.

The primary aim of all the lecturers on the program is to facilitate the optimum amount of knowledge transfer and experience exchange. This is especially geared towards the needs of business practice. The focus of the lectures in each case is underpinned by international project studies and business simulations. To add to this, case-studies and personal reports are provided by senior managers and consultants, who regularly conduct lectures on the program. This sharing of experience and ideas with senior executives is a key element of the MBA course.

As part of the program professors assume the roles of lecturers and supervising tutors and draw information from the latest research activities and results in their fields, thereby ensuring an extremely smooth and efficient process of knowledge transfer. Furthermore, as well as the theoretical aspects presented on the MBA program, there are contributions by representatives of both small successful businesses and international companies with global activities. This enables the participants to gain experience in a range of real business environments.

Central Europe has a tremendous potential in terms of industrial growth, expansion in the service arena and also as a hub for global companies like HP, which has invested in this region. A key driver of growth will be a well-educated, internationally versed and highly innovative workforce. A MBA education will be very important for young people seeking interesting challenges and career opportunities. The MBA from Viadrina CEE is an excellent credential.

I have been teaching MBA courses at Viadrina for a number of years and have been impressed by the quality of the student body coming from a variety of countries and regions and their intensive interaction with the faculty. A Central European perspective is a unique feature as it truly prepares the students for opportunities in this highly dynamic region.

Studying the Management of Central and Eastern Europe in the Viadrina's MBA program is both challenging and fruitful. Due to the heterogeneity of the participants' professional, academic, and cultural background the learning curve is always steep. The faculty consisting of professionals and academics shares in this diversity. Lots of insights are developed in the course of the studies by drawing on the participants' and instructors' individual experience. Participants concerned about career lever their opportunities as regards being promoted or changing the professional profile. Employers benfit from the enlarged knowledge about and the broadened understanding for the management of corporations as a whole which the participants acquire and develop, respectively. Briefly, the Viadrina MBA prepares for the future of your business

I really enjoy teaching within the MBA CEE program. What I like most is the open dialogue with the students of the program during and after the classes. Actually I think both sides take advantage, the students and me. Great program!

The MBA experience is challenging. The MBA Curriculum at the European University Viadrina invigorates forward thinking and a state-of-the-art perspective from its students. The influence of Central Europe gives it a special characteristic and makes it an excellent learning experience.

Prof. Dr. Gerard J. Lewis
Professor of International Strategic Management

In my view the Viadrina MBA has two big advantages: The programme cohort is relatively small, which translates into an excellent learning environment for both students and the faculty. Secondly, the cohort and the faculty are very diverse in terms of their backgrounds and nationalities. This combination of small scale and diversity makes it a great experience to be involved in the Viadrina MBA.
